History Buff Seeks WOR(TV) Info

Here’s a site we thought readers would like to know about.
Radio World contributor Jim Hawkins has put together a Web page asking for help in collecting information on a WOR(TV) tower and transmitter site that once existed in North Bergen, N.J.
Hawkins has found some information in old magazine articles hailing WOR(TV) as “ultra-modern,” but questions are left unanswered as to when WOR(TV) and WOR(FM) were moved to the Empire State Building. After winning a set of Radio and Television News magazines at auction that featured an article written after its move to New York, he became determined to complete the tower’s story.
There are holes for Hawkins to fill. He’s looking for information about WOR(TV), particularly photos, the street address of the facility, its construction timeline and whether or not a plane ever struck the tower.
