Honors for Gulf Stations Planned

The NAB Education Foundation will honor Gulf Coast broadcasters for public service efforts related to Hurricane Katrina at its annual Service to America event June 12 in Washington. NABEF also will recognize broadcasters for raising more than $200 million to aid victims and communities affected by the hurricane.
On hand to accept the Service to America Samaritan Award will be Louise Munson, Louisiana Association of Broadcasters president and chief executive officer; Jackie Lett, Mississippi Association of Broadcasters president; Sharon Tinsley, Alabama Broadcasters Association executive director; and Whit Adamson, National Alliance of State Broadcasters Associations president-elect.
“Employees lost homes and waded through alligator and snake-infested waters to keep their signal on air and their communities informed. We salute these broadcasters for their heroic service and dedication in response to the worst natural disaster in our nation’s history,” stated NAB President/CEO David Rehr.
NABEF sponsors the Service to America Awards with support from Bonneville International Corp. and NAB.
