House Slates FCC Oversight Hearing for July

Communications Subcommittee to look at proceedings, process, progress in implementing congressional priorities

All five FCC commissioners are slated to appear next month before the House Communications Subcommittee.

Chairman Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., has scheduled an oversight hearing for the agency on July 10.

This will be the subcommittee’s first chance to hear from new Commissioners Jessica Rosenworcel and Ajit Pai in addition to the current commissioners.

Walden says the hearing will cover current proceedings before the agency, the commission’s regulatory process and the FCC’s progress in implementing congressional priorities.

The Oregon Republican has also scheduled a “Future of Video” hearing for June 27, examining how advances in consumer electronics, broadcasting, cable, satellite and the Internet are changing how consumers access video content to get an understanding of how current rules affect video and what types of changes should be considered going forward.

The hearing follows one for audio held last week.
