Ibiquity President/CEO Robert Struble told RW Online the company started taking receiver orders before the show for those stations now on the air with a digital signal who want one of the first 1,000 Kenwood HD Radio receivers. Struble says the company has those receivers, which include the new HDC codec software.
JVC and Panasonic have early ’04 launch plans for aftermarket HD Radios, said Struble. As previously reported by RW Online, Kenwood plans a limited launch in Q4 of this year and will be ready to ship to retailers in January.
“It’s all about the speed of the receiver uptake now,” said Struble, regarding the company’s plans going forward.
