IBOC Developer Looks to China for Product Development

300 consumer electronics executives attended a conference in April.

Ibiquity Digital plans to hold another HD Radio Business Conference and Technology Update in China in the fall.

The technology developer said approximately 300 consumer electronics executives attended a conference in April in Shenzhen before the Hong Kong Electronics Fair.

“Our goal is to bring together the range of companies that build HD Radio products, from design through receiver manufacturing,” stated Ibiquity CCO Jeff Jury.

The conference included training sessions and vendor exhibits. Chip, module and test instrumentation suppliers were among the 20 vendors, as well as software and reference platform designers.

The conference was designed to educate engineering execs from China’s consumer electronics manufacturing sector about development of HD-R technology, including an overview of HD Radio architectures for the new Samsung Cayman and SiPort smaller and lower power chipsets.

Also discussed, according to Ibiquity, were display standardization; iPod docking stations; and features under development for conditional access, traffic services and store and replay.

The next conference is slated for Oct. 10 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shenzhen.
