iHeart Names New GSM, Taps Several New PDs

Changes are afoot in Chicago, Detroit, Tampa Bay and Sacramento

iHeartMedia has named Lindsay Lazar general sales manager for Chicago’s WBEG(FM) and WLIT(FM). Also, iHeartMedia Detroit has chosen Nate Bell to serve as program director for WJLB(FM) and WMXD(FM), AJ Malone has been named PD for Tampa Bay’s WXTB(FM), and Chris Matthews has been named PD/afternoon drive host for KBEB(FM) in Sacramento.

Lazar will report to iHeartMedia Chicago Regional Senior Vice President of Sales Adam Kurtz. She has 20 years of broadcast sales experience. She was most recently the cluster sales manager at Entercom/CBS and has also held sales and account management positions at Total Traffic and Weather Network and Premiere Networks.

iHeartMedia Chicago owns and operates WKSC(FM), WLIT, WEBG, WVAZ(FM), WGCI(FM) and WGRB(AM).

Bell most recently served as operations manager and PD for WGPR(FM), WDMK(FM) and WPZR(FM) in Detroit. He has also held programming roles in cities including New York, New Orleans and Memphis as well as with iHeartMedia in Miami.

iHeartMedia Detroit owns and operates WKQI(FM), WNIC(FM), WMXD, WJLB, WDTW(FM) and WDFN(AM).

Malone will be responsible for the station’s music and programming content, as well its personalities and digital extensions. She will report to iHeart Tampa Senior Vice President of Programming Tommy Chuck.

She has served as assistant PD for the station since August 2017. Her previous experience includes various roles including PD at WXSR(FM) in Tallahassee, Fla., as well as production director at WOLT(FM) in Indianapolis.

iHeartMedia Tampa Bay owns and operates WXTB, WFLZ(FM), WFUS(FM), WMTX(FM), WBTP(FM), WDAE(AM), WFLA(AM), WHNZ(AM), WRUB(FM) and WMTX(HD2) and is part of iHeartMedia.

Matthews will be responsible for the day-to-day programming ops and joins the station from KMLE(FM) in Phoenix, where he served as assistant PD, music director, morning show host and afternoon drive host. He has also worked as director of marketing and promotions for Cumulus Media in Tucson.

iHeartMedia Sacramento owns and operates KBEB, KYRV(FM/HD2), KHYL(FM), KSTE(AM) and KFBK(AM).
