IHeartMedia Announces Personnel Changes

Louisville, Houston, Miami, Tampa and Las Vegas clusters switch things up

IHeartMedia clusters across the country have announced changes to their programming and personnel.

WHAS(AM) announced today that afternoon personality Terry Meiners has renewed with the Louisville, Ky., station. Meiners, who marks 30 years with NewsRadio 840 WHAS this year, will continue to be on the air every weekday from 3–6 p.m.

Fans can listen to NewsRadio 840 WHAS via the station’s website, as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app, iHeartMedia’s all-in-one music streaming and digital radio service.

IHeartMedia Louisville owns and operates WTFX(FM), WQMF(FM), WAMZ(FM), WNRW(FM), WLGX(FM), WKRD(AM), WHAS and WKJK(AM).

Houston’s KQBT(FM) has selected Bo Money as its new program director beginning May 15.

He will join the Beat from WBTP(FM) in Tampa, where he served as PD and midday personality. With 20 years of radio experience, his career has taken him to stints in St. Louis; Savannah, Ga.; Columbia, S.C.; and Detroit; prior to landing back with iHeartMedia Tampa in 2011.

IHeartMedia Houston owns and operates KQBT, KODA(FM), KTBZ(FM), KTRH(AM), KBME(AM) and KPRC(AM).

Miami’s WMIB(FM) says Thomas “DJ 33 1/3” Johnson has been named program director, effective April 27.

As PD, Johnson will oversee broadcast and digital operations of Miami’s new hip-hop station. He will join The Beat from iHeartMedia Chicago, where he has been part of the programming team at WGCI(FM) for more than seven years. Johnson also mixes and hosts “The Friday and Saturday Mixtape” that airs Friday and Saturday night from 10 p. m.–2 a.m.

IHeartMedia Miami owns and operates WHYI(FM), WIOD(AM), WMIA(FM), WBGG(FM), WMGE(FM), WSHE(FM) and WINZ(AM), as well as five HD Radio stations.

Upstate from Miami, WFLZ(FM), in Tampa, says John Mayer has been named PD, effective May 1.

Originally from New York, Mayer started his career as a backyard DJ and hosting his own club nights. After taking his skills to college radio, Mayer fell in love with radio and took on an internship with the local top 40 station, which transitioned into a full-time position shortly after getting his Master’s Degree in broadcast journalism. During his radio career Mayer has been on-air in more than 100 markets. He previously helped program WKCI(FM) New Haven, Conn., and WRVW(FM) in Nashville.

IHeartMedia Tampa owns and operates WFLA(AM), WDAE(AM), WHNZ(AM), WFLZ, WBTP(FM), WXTB(FM), WMTX(FM) and WFUS(FM).

In Las Vegas, KWNR(FM) has named Toni-Marie the new assistant PD and new midday host. She will host weekdays from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

Toni-Marie will join KWNR from KUZZ(FM) in Bakersfield, Calif., where she served as the music director and evening personality for the country radio station. With 14 years of radio experience, she started her career at KJUG(FM) in Visalia, Calif. in 2001. She also had a stint with iHeartMedia Bakersfield in 2005.

IHeartMedia Las Vegas owns and operates KWNR, KPLV(FM) and KSNE(FM).
