iHeartMedia has extended its contract with Thea Mitchem, who will continue to serve as executive vice president of programming for the National Programming Group’s Northeast Division. Also, iHeartMedia Denver says Bryan “B-Dub” Washington has been named assistant program director, music director and afternoon drive host for KWBL(FM), and Michael “DJ Fountz” Fournier has been named program director for WOWI(FM) and WHBT(FM) in Norfolk/Hampton Roads, Va.
Mitchem will continue to report to National Programming Group Executive Vice President and General Manager Brad Hardin and iHeartMedia New York President Scott Hopeck.
Also, she will continue to partner with iHeartMedia Markets Group Division President Tom McConnell. In addition, she will oversee programming for 60-plus stations. She will also remain a member of the Urban Brand Management Team and remain as PD for New York’s WWPR(FM).
Bryan Washington
Mitchem was named EVP of programming for iHeart’s Northeast Division in January 2016. Her radio experience also includes serving as director of operations for iHeartMedia Philadelphia and president of iHeartMedia’s D.C. and Baltimore markets. She began her career in programming at WPGC(FM) in Washington.
As assistant PD and music director in Denver, Washington will assist in the daily operations of the station’s programming and scheduling of music logs as well as be responsible for working with Region Senior Vice President of Programming West Division/Denver Region JoJo Turnbeaugh on the station’s imaging and branding. He will report to Turnbeaugh.
Washington joins KWBL from iHeartMedia Sacramento, where he served as PD at KBEB(FM) in Sacramento. While studying at the University of Oregon, he worked at Alpha Media’s KUPL(FM) Portland and then spent time at KMLW Phoenix. He also hosts the syndicated “Buckwild Saturday Night with B-Dub.”
iHeartMedia Denver owns and operates KOA, KHOW, KDSP, KTCL, KPTT, KBCO, KRFX, KBPI, Denver Broncos Radio Network and Colorado Rockies Radio Network.
Michael Fournier
As PD, Fournier will be responsible for the stations’ music programming and for imaging and branding. He will also serve as midday on-air host for 103 JAMZ. Fournier will report to iHeartMedia Norfolk Senior Vice President of Programming Tias Schuster.
Fournier rejoins iHeartMedia Norfolk, where he most recently served as the assistant PD for 103 JAMZ. He began his radio career at the station over 18 years ago as an intern working his way to assistant PD. During his time at iHeartMedia Norfolk, he also helped launch 92.1 The Beat in 2015.
iHeartMedia Norfolk owns and operates WOWI(FM), WMOV(FM), WNOH(FM) and WHBT(FM).
