IHeartMedia Taps Young for Phoenix

Changes also afoot in Minneapolis and Denver

IHeartMedia has named Brandi Young as senior vice president of sales for its Phoenix market. Matt Tell has been promoted to program director for Minneapolis-St.Paul’s KQQL(FM), and iHeartMedia Denver says JJ Kincaid will join 95.7 The Party to host mornings, beginning in August.

Young was vice president of corporate sales for Townsquare Media from November 2011 until July 2015, where she operated Townsquare Media Network and worked on regional new business campaigns. She previously was vice president of corporate sales for Cumulus Media and Citadel Broadcasting from February 1994 until November 2011. Young had held a number of leadership roles including overall responsibilities of network and regional multiplatform development of new business, digital integration, live events and sports marketing. She began her career in San Francisco Bay Area radio where focused on crossplatform sales efforts.

IHeartMedia Phoenix includes KYOT(FM), KMXP(FM), KESZ(FM), KNIX(FM), KISS(FM), KFYI(AM), KFYI(FM) and KGME(AM).

Matt Tell has been assistant PD for KQQL(FM) and director of promotions for iHeartMedia’s nine local brands. He will continue in the latter role, while taking full responsibility for KQQL(FM).

KQQL is Tell’s first program director job, having spent the last 19 years working for the Twin Cities’ iHeartMedia stations, beginning as a promotional intern, and working his way through the station ranks.

The nine brands of iHeartMedia/Minneapolis-St. Paul are KDWB(FM), KEEY(FM), KTCZ(FM)/Cities 97, KFXN(FM), KTLK(AM), KQQL(HD2), KTCZ(HD3), KQQL(HD3) and KQQL(FM).

JJ Kincaid has been heard in the afternoon on New York’s Z100 since 2006 and has consistently delivered No. 1 ratings, according to a release. Kincaid’s career started with humble beginnings as an ice rink DJ in his hometown of Columbia, Md. He later transitioned to radio with shows at Minneapolis’ KDWB(FM), Dallas’ KHKS(FM) and nationwide via iHeartRadio.
