Indy Label to Use Podcasts for Promotion

Saying it can’t ignore the new trend in music delivery, independent record label 226 Music Group, Inc. is creating create a podcasting division so it can promote new releases by selling the initial release using a podcast subscription. Podcast subscribers will receive the artist’s album before the scheduled release and also have access to bonus content, and information such as tour updates and road diaries.
226 Music Group cited information reported by IT Facts: Samsung expects global shipments of MP3 players to reach 35 million to 45 million units in 2005. The company forecast the shipments would rise to 55 million units in 2006 thanks to growth in demand for both flash memory and hard disk drive-based products.
