Jefferson-Pilot Up 14% In Q2

Jefferson-Pilot Corp. (NYSE:JP) says its second-quarter earnings increased 14% to $1.06 per share – up from $0.93 per share in the second quarter of 1999. Jefferson-Pilot has 17 O&O radio stations, 3 network television stations and produces and syndicates sports programming.
Broadcast cash flow grew 15% to $21.2 million from $18.4 million for the quarter and was up 10% to $41.3 million from $37.5 million for the six months.
Jefferson-Pilot posted earnings of $9.2 million in the second quarter, up 18% from earnings of $7.8 million in the 1999 period. Year to date, Communications earnings increased 13% to $18 million from $15.9 million.
