KISS Raises $1+ Million for Seattle Children’s Hospital

“One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon” returns for 12th year

Clear Channel Communities, the community engagement brand of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, and Seattle’s KBKS(FM), AKA KISS FM raised almost $1,010,000 for Seattle Children’s Hospital during its 12th annual “Jackie and Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon,” which took place Feb. 26 and 27.

As KBKS hosts Jackie and Bender broadcast patients, families, staff and volunteers’ stories, listeners helped them reach the 2013 goal of $1 million. Throughout the two-day radiothon donations could be made online, via text and in an online auction, or by joining the KISS for Kids Club, which enables listeners to sign up to make a monthly donation. Online donations will be accepted through the weekend. Listeners can also make a $10 donation by texting the word CARE to 50555.

“It’s truly incredible that Jackie & Bender’s compassion for Seattle Children’s inspires so many to give generously and has for 12 years,” said Michele Smith, member of the Seattle Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees. “They have given a voice to so many patients and their families to share their amazing stories with our community uniting everyone in supporting Seattle Children’s.”

To date, the radiothon has raised over $11.5 million dollars for Seattle Children’s Hospital, and proceeds are allocated to the Children’s Greatest Needs Fund.

“Jackie and Bender’s One Big KISS for Seattle Children’s Hospital” is co-presented by the John L. Scott Foundation, which contributes to 18 children’s hospitals throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Children’s Hospital serves as the pediatric and adolescent academic medical referral center for Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Washington. It is also the primary teaching, clinical and research site for the department of pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and works in partnership with Seattle Children’s Research Institute and Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation.

KBKS is a CHR-Pop radio format station owned and operated by Clear Channel Media and Entertainment in Seattle, which also operates KUBE(FM), KJR(AM), KNBQ(FM), KKBW(FM) and KHHO(AM).
