Australian talk radio fixture John Laws announced yesterday (25 June) his intentions to retire after more than 50 years behind the microphone.

Australian talk radio fixture John Laws announced yesterday (25 June) his intentions to retire after more than 50 years behind the microphone.

The 71-year-old said he will step down in November, planning to stay on the air through the 2007 federal election cycle.

Laws is heard by some 2 million Australians via more than 70 stations across the country. His programs originated from 2UE in Sydney, New South Wales.
