Look For HD Radio at CES

The public and retailers will be able to buy commercial HD Radios at this year’s Consumer Electronic Show in January in Las Vegas. Kenwood will show the Kenwood KTC-HR100, the first commercially available HD Radio receiver. The unit is available in stores now, and Kenwood plans to be ready to ship in volume in January. At least 12 manufacturers plan to show HD Radio product at CES Jan 8-11.
Also on tap, Ibiquity plans a 5.1 surround sound demo and the backers of the supplemental channel project, Harris, Kenwood and NPR, plan to give their progress report to members of the National Radio Systems Committee at a meeting slated for Jan. 9. Kenwood plans a Tomorrow Radio demo in its booth, the first public chance to listen to music or speech on the supplemental channel.
