LPB Acquires AM Transmitter Maker

LPB Communications is on a buying spree. Six months after acquiring Fidelipac, LPB is picking up Omnitronix, a manufacturer of solid-state AM and shortwave transmitters.
Terms were not disclosed.
LPB, an industry stalwart for years in low-power transmission and consoles, has taken a higher industry profile since its purchase by Tom Spadea, the current president, in 1998. In addition to buying studio equipment maker Fidelipac, LPB recently introduced a new, affordable console line.
Omnitronix was founded by David L. Solt. It has made the OMNI line of AM transmitters since 1987 and the “world’s only solid-state shortwave transmitter” since 1997. Its products range in power up to 100 kW.
LPB plans to consolidate the Omnitronix operation, now in North Wales, Pa., by next summer. The two companies are located near each other in the Philadelphia area.
