Maine Wants to be Prepared

Chicago suburb acquires portable emergency radio station

Maine Township is a suburb of Chicago. It recently acquired an ISS RadioSTAT Portable Emergency Advisory Radio Station for its Office of Emergency Management.

The main mission for the station is not to issue emergency alerts but rather to provide after-disaster instructions for the populace along with providing community news, updates and events announcements.

The RadioSTAT is a turnkey low-power AM radio station kit. It includes transmitter, message player, mic, cables, etc. all within a rolling shock-resistant case. The acquisition and demo was covered by the Chicago Tribune.
