Commentary positions at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2007 featured Mayah Merk II units.
Young artists in the 10- to 15-year-old age bracket from 17 countries participated in the JESC 2007 event, held 8 December in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Public-service broadcaster Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep (AVRO), the host broadcaster, equipped a dozen commentary positions with the Merk II IP/ISDN codec and mixer, with support from Heynen B.V., the Mayah distributor in the Netherlands.
The commentator boxes were directly connected to the main control rooms of the corresponding national broadcasters. Mayah FlashCast technology ensured automatic recognition of the remote codecs and transmission of the audio in different formats.
The dual codec feature of the Merk II enabled a Russian commentary team to set up two independent connections to their studio, one for the commentator and one for an assistant.
The winner of JESC 2007 was Belarusian youngster Alexey Zhigalkovich. JESC 2008 will take place in Limassol, Cyprus, in November 2008.
