Federal Communications Commissioner Robert McDowell is back home resting after undergoing emergency gall bladder surgery this weekend.
His office released a statement saying that McDowell’s surgery was successful and his spirits are good.
The commissioner expects to return to work “in a few days,” according to spokeswoman Brigid Calamis.
McDowell is the senior Republican on the commission; he came to the agency in 2006 and was reappointed in 2009, the first Republican appointed to an independent agency by President Barack Obama.
