CGC Communicator passed along this photo showing TV and FM broadcast antennas atop the KABC tower on Mt. Wilson during an ice storm that “put heaters, radomes and engineers to the test.”
“It was not an easy event for some of the folks involved,” the newsletter reported. “This amount of ice is uncommon in the Land of Perpetual Sun. When the ice thaws, you don’t want to be standing anywhere near the towers on Wilson. Ice chunks and sheets can travel some distance with wind.”
