NAB Opens Application Window for 2023 Pilot Innovation Challenge

Applicants with concepts for solving key broadcast industry challenges must apply by Feb. 3

Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 PILOT Innovation Challenge.

As the technology innovation initiative arm of the National Association of Broadcasters, PILOT is looking for startups and growing companies with ideas that will provide solutions to some of the key challenges and opportunities facing broadcasters over the next several years. Specifically, the PILOT Innovation Challenge is seeking products or prototypes that align with the three key focus areas of the upcoming 2023 NAB Show: create, capitalize and connect.

Groups that include individuals, teams, companies, academic institutions and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply. Up to 10 finalists will be selected by a panel of industry experts by early March. Up to three winning proposals will be announced the week of March 27.

Judging criteria is available on the PILOT website. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Feb. 3. Winners are eligible to receive mentorship, feedback, numerous opportunities to engage with broadcasters and a trip to the 2023 NAB Show.

“PILOT is excited to kick off the 2023 Innovation Challenge spotlighting the innovative ideas and proposals seeking to tackle the evolving challenges in broadcasting,” said PILOT Executive Director John Clark. “This is an exciting opportunity for applicants to elevate their cutting-edge breakthroughs at NAB Show and help broadcasters find solutions to take their operations to the next level.”
