Sonuma, a subsidiary of Walloon public-service broadcaster RTBF, is charged with digitizing and commercializing the vast RTBF audiovisual archives.
To aid in that task, Sonuma is implementing a Netia content management system (CMS) to manage tens of thousands of hours of archival video and audio.
The RTBF audio and video collection consists of 120,000 hours of content on all variety of media, including VCR tape, DAT tape, LP, MD and 16mm film. Metadata is consolidated by Sonuma for all this material, and a third-party software platform performs speech-to-text transcription for each item. The Netia CMS ingests the media and metadata in a manner that allows the content to be searched and indexed.
