Nippon Hoso Kyokai, the Japanese public-service broadcaster, has renewed its shortwave broadcasting contract with London-based Merlin Communications.
Under the contract, Merlin broadcasts the programs of Radio Japan – the overseas service operated by NHK – to key NHK target areas worldwide.
The agreement covers 12 hours and 30 minutes of Radio Japan programs broadcast daily from the United Kingdom, six hours and 30 minutes from Ascension Island and five hours from Singapore.
“We are particularly delighted at the continuation of this contract as NHK has been a shortwave customer of Merlin since 1997,” said Rory Maclachlan, commercial director of Merlin.
