From the Radio World Who’s Buying What page: GeoBroadcast Solutions said Audacy has deployed a MaxxCasting system on San Francisco FM stations “Alice @ 97.3” KLLC and “ALT 105.3” KITS.
GBS said the addition of seven booster nodes has extended the stations’ signals to cover another 800,000 people in their listening areas.
“This deployment marks a continuation of Audacy’s successful integration of MaxxCasting technology, having first seen positive results in San Diego,” GBS said in a press release.
“Now, with the first-ever MaxxCasting nodes in the South Bay, Audacy extends its reach into new areas, including San Jose, Santa Clara, Cupertino and Milpitas, bringing enhanced signal quality to these high-growth communities.”
MaxxCasting is a system of FM single-frequency networks with synchronized transmitters intended to expand the coverage area of an FM signal and allow for potential later geographic targeting and fencing. It uses cellular network design, broadcast and SFN software tools.
John Kennedy is Audacy senior VP of technical operations.
Shown at bottom of the story is a coverage map showing five nodes covering the East Bay of San Francisco; these are shared sites with Bonneville. (Click the map to enlarge.) There are two other sites in the San Jose area that provide new coverage, the first stations to have enhanced MaxxCasting coverage in the South Bay area.
