Not Answering Phones, Energy-Onix Is Subject of Suit

Community is suing broadcast manufacturer

The village of Valatie, N.Y., where Energy-Onix was based, is suing the broadcast equipment manufacturer, according to the Register-Star newspaper, which reports that the company has gone out of business.

Apparently the community of Valatie had awarded the company a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $500,000. According to the news account, a substantial amount of the loan has gone unpaid in the wake of the death of its founder.

Bernie Wise passed away last year, as we reported; a number of readers posted comments lamenting his passing at that time. According to this newspaper account, the company has gone out of business. It is unclear what options users of its equipment have right now, if they need service support.

The village is threatening to foreclose on the building if the matter is not otherwise resolved; according to the article, Mayor Diane Argyle also cited concerns about pipes freezing in addition to a desire to recoup money.

In October, Radio World reported that the manufacturer’s website was still online but that phone calls and emails were going unanswered. The company did not respond to renewed requests for comment from Radio World for this story.
