NPR’s petition to the FCC to deny the satellite radio merger is notable for two reasons.
NPR programming is carried by both satellite radio companies. Also, it suggests that if the merger does go through, regulators require that all satellite radios be able to receive HD Radio.
I’m curious to see what comments to the commission come in on this point; IBOC proponents have hoped for parity with satellite in the car and believe this may be a faster way of achieving this goal.
