NPR Joins the ‘Heard’

NPR News iPhone application now available

Like the great, snorting buffalo that once covered the plains, iPhone applications have multiplied fruitfully.

Joining the “heard” is National Public Radio with its new app, NPR News App. It will allow iPhone and iPod Touch users to listen live to a local NPR station, read news stories and listen to podcasts.

Kinsey Wilson is senior vice president and general manager of NPR Digital and co-developed the app. Fans of NPR, he says, “will find that our app delivers the quintessential NPR experience they’ve come to expect on the radio with even more convenience … our goal is to keep our audience connected throughout the day wherever they are.”

The application uses Zip code searches to locate NPR stations or other NPR streams. NPR News App was co-developed with Bottle Rocket Apps. It is available, where else, at the Apple App Store.
