Pai to Headline Luncheon at Fall Radio Show

Chairman will speak Sept. 6 in Austin

WASHINGTON FCC Chairman Ajit Pai will keynote the Radio Luncheon at this falls Radio Show convention.

Pai is no stranger to the show, produced by the NAB and the Radio Advertising Bureau. For example in 2012, just months after joining the FCC, he used the annual event tocall for a comprehensive reviewof AM radio rules.

Pai, a Republican, was named to the FCC by President Obama in 2012 and elevated to chairman by President Trump this January. Among the notable proposals Pai has pursued since is the elimination of the rule requiring broadcasters to maintain a physical presence in their city of license.

Throughout his tenure at the FCC, Ajit Pai has recognized time and again the indispensable role that local radio plays in communities across America, said NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith in the announcement. We look forward to hearing first-hand his plans for strengthening free and local broadcasting.

The Radio Luncheon is Wednesday, Sept. 6. The Radio Show will run from Sept. 58 at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas.
