Bierhorst Honored with WorldDAB Outstanding Service Award

She has been instrumental in helping launch DAB in Netherlands and parts of Belgium

The WorldDAB organization has chosen Jacqueline Bierhorst as this year’s recipient of the WorldDAB Award for Outstanding Service. Bierhorst, who is project director of Digital Radio Netherland, was honored for her work in the DAB space after helping launch DAB in the Netherlands and then in the Flemish–speaking part of Belgium.

“She’s been an absolute star in galvanizing both of those countries,” said Patrick Hannon, WorldDAB president during the organization’s general assembly meeting. “Not only has she been an advocate for DAB+, she’s also passionate about spreading good practice and enthusiasm for DAB+ right across the organization and in many different countries.”

Bierhorst has been recognized as a pioneer in commercial radio and specializes in distribution, marketing and content. She was the project leader during the rollout of the DAB+ network for all commercial broadcasters in the Netherlands, which launched in 2013. In 2015, she was named project director for Digital Radio Netherlands. She also serves as vice president and as a member of the Steering Board of WorldDAB as well as a consultant for the Flemish government’s Department of Culture, Youth and Media in Flanders.
