PlayBox Neo Announces Partnership With Broadcasters General Store

BGS will now carry PlayBox Neo's playout and IP streaming tech

PlayBox Neo, a Bulgarian provider of media playout solutions, has named Florida-based supplier Broadcasters General Store (BGS) as its new U.S. dealer. Now, BGS will carry the PlayBox Neo line of server-based playout, channel branding and cloud solutions.

Known in the radio industry as the sole supplier of the Axia Quasar console, BGS has recently expanded its footprint in the TV and video production marketplace, hiring several former broadcast engineers to its staff and adding lines such as PlayBox Neo, AJA, Studio Technologies, BirdDog, BlackMagic and Kramer.

The AirBox Neo-20 playout system can be used as a live playout server for master control and as a disaster recovery solution, said PlayBox Neo in a press release. The AirBox Neo-20 also provides automated content streaming and broadcast playout for various types of TV channels including cloud-based, satellite, cable head-ends and over-the-air broadcasters, among others.

“Some broadcasters have lost their content multiple times because of hacks or weather events,” said Shane Finch, sales director at BSG, in the same press release. “That disaster event, one leading radio broadcaster has had it happen to him three times. Having a redundant backup with digital recovery gives them a sense of insurance that they welcome right now.”

Playbox Neo said there is also an optional Multi-Backup Manager (MBM) module designed for backing up multiple playout channels simultaneously.
