Public Knowledge Gets Good Copps

Former FCC commissioner joins board of nonprofit group

Former Federal Communications Commissioner Michael Copps has joined the board of directors for Public Knowledge, according to the Board’s President and CEO Gigi B. Sohn.

Based in Washington, D.C., Public Knowledge “works at the intersection of copyright, telecommunications, and Internet law, at a time when all three or converging,” according to their website.

“I have especially admired [Public Knowledge’s] work toward building a news and information infrastructure that informs citizens and deepens the civic dialogue upon which our self-government depends,” Copps said.

In addition to the placement of Copps, the Public Knowledge board appointed as chair Kathleen Wallman, president of Wallman Consulting LLC, and as vice-chair Kevin Werbach, founder of Supernova Group.
