Radio This Year Seen Up 3.3%

Radio revenue this year will increase at a 3.3% rate, BIA Financial Network believes.
The analysts last week lowered their radio market revenue projections one-tenth of a point based on performance of the first five months.
VP Mark Fratrik said the company increased the 2005 growth rate for 17 markets but lowered the rate for 34.
“While many of these changes were minor, some markets have shown surprising growth. We now expect San Francisco to see revenue increases of 5% instead of 2.5%, and Boise, ID will enjoy a 6% growth rate instead of the 3.4% originally estimated.”
But Washington, Detroit, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Memphis, and Macon, though still experiencing growth, will see it slower than before.
“While there have been efforts to bolster the prospects of the radio industry, it will take some time for these initiatives to sufficiently impact stronger industry growth,” BIA stated.
