Music streamer Rdio has introduced a new subscription tier for mobile users. Rdio Select is available for $3.99 per month, and it offers subscribers both ad-free radio and the ability to select up to 25 new songs a day on demand.
“Rdio Select joins our free tier of ad-supported Internet radio and our premium Rdio Unlimited package. We remain committed to offering customized streaming options tuned to different listening audiences that includes the free listening experience,” said Rdio CEO Anthony Bay. “We believe in a free tier that is fair to artists, labels and consumers alike.”
Rdio Select also includes unlimited access to ad-free streaming radio with unlimited skips and audio at 320 kbps. Rdio also offers a personalized station called You FM that is customized based on users’ specific listening history.
Subscribers can play their library of downloaded songs even offline, in any combination of individual songs, albums or curated playlists. New downloads automatically replace the prior songs, a release explained.
Rdio is also curating 10-song playlists that enhance the Rdio Select experience, featuring music from a range of artists, labels and other influencers as well as its own programming team.
Rdio Select is now available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa.
Other subscription offerings from the streamer are Rdio Unlimited ($9.99/month) and Rdio Unlimited Family, ranging from $14.99/month for two Rdio Unlimited accounts to $29.99/month for five accounts.
