Regent Swings Multi-Station Deals in Peoria to Strengthen Its Presence

Regent Communications thinks it’ll play in Peoria. It’s buying Class B FMs WZPW and WXMP from AAA Entertainment for $12.5 million while selling three Class As, WIXO, WVEL and WPIA, to Independence Media for $2.8 million.
When all is done, the company will have four FMs and one AM in the market. Bill Stakelin is president and CEO of Regent. His company’s strategy is via middle and small-sized market station clusters. He said the deal also benefits the cluster in Bloomington, Ill.
