Radio today is both a traditional and a new media platform — employing numerous analog and digital channels to reach its audiences — which makes a recent report on the biggest trends in digital media for 2015 an indicator of key industry developments.
According to a survey of digital publishers worldwide from audience analytics company Parsely, the rise of mobile traffic to the point that it exceeds desktop traffic was this year’s biggest trend. A third of those surveyed labeled mobile traffic as the number one trend, with social content distribution coming in second at 21%.
Other notable trends from the survey are ad-blocking, analytics driving content strategy, evolution of native advertising, and a rise in data journalism.
