Clearwire has added St. Louis, Salt Lake City and Richmond, Va., to its 4G WiMax service areas.
The company announced availability of its fast mobile Internet service called Clear 4G. “In St. Louis, Clear covers more than 600 square miles and more than 1.2 million people,” the company stated. “Service extends as far north as the Missouri River, south to Imperial, east to Collinsville, Ill., and west to Foristell.”
It also says the network now is available in areas of the United States where approximately 51 million people live. It markets the service through its own Clear brand and via relationships with Sprint, Comcast and Time Warner Cable, which are among its strategic investors.
Cities coming soon include Syracuse and Rochester, N.Y.; Tampa, Orlando and Daytona, Fla.; Nashville, Tenn.; Merced, Visalia, Modesto and Stockton, Calif.; and Grand Rapids, Mich. Cities that Clearwire expects to serve by end of the year include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Denver, Minneapolis, Miami, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
