Spanish Broadcast Systems radio stations in Chicago, New York and San Francisco raised more than $1 million during a weekend radiothon for local hospitals in those cities. The radiothon was in partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
San Francisco’s KRZZ(FM) led the way taking in some $530,000. The Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland was the beneficiary of Bay Area listeners’ largesse.
In Chicago WLEY(FM) brought in $365,000 for the Children’s Memorial Hospital.
Three hospitals in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, Cohen’s Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Specialized Hospital, were the recipients of WPAT(FM) listeners’ donations of $245,000.
Joe Trevino, vice president, Hispanic Radiothon, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, said: “Everyone at the stations pulled together to make these three radiothons a great success and, more importantly, a significant financial contribution for our member hospitals. These funds allow the hospitals to continue to provide much-needed medical and family support services for the millions of children served locally.”
