Spanish Broadcasting System said its Chicago station WLEY(FM), “La Ley 107.9 FM,” raised a collection to help people in Tabasco, Mexico affected by severe flooding caused by Hurricane Noel.
The campaign was initiated by morning host Jesús “El Peladillo” García. It generated donated clothing, water, non-perishable food items, medication and cash proceeds for the victims.
Station staff gathered at donation centers in Joliet and Elgin to accept listener donations.
