NextKast has released a synchronization system that allows radio groups across multiple markets to share content.
The service, NextSync, allows stations to access a unified music library, akin to a cloud-based storage tool like Dropbox.
Winston Potgieter, NextKast’s founder and project manager, said the system allows each station to pull only what it needs based on playlists and category rules, as opposed to the typical push-based content workflow.
In a typical broadcast cluster that might make use of the tool, each station can configure settings that determine content categories and whether playlists are shared directly from the master or generated locally.
NextSync verifies commercial and traffic files for expiration and automatically requests the updated version. It can also manage voicetracked show distribution.
The company said the service’s proprietary engine is U.S. patent-pending.
