Ferncast Releases Latest Aixtream Version

Adds Stereo Tool FM processing with MicroMPX support

Ferncast has released version 3.8 of its aixtream software solution.

It now includes FM processing via Thimeo’s Stereo Tool, which also brings MicroMPX encoding for STL use.

“MicroMPX transports a full FM composite MPX signal, including pilot and RDS, at a bitrate of only 320 kbps,” Ferncast noted.

“MicroMPX offers nearly lossless FM encoding and perfectly maintains peak control, even when using composite clipping.” The Stereo Tool user interface now is integrated and supported within aixtream. “Thus, users have access to the full suite of Stereo Tools options.”

Aixtream’s implementation of xHE AAC also has been improved. “Ferncast comprehensively implemented all applicable MPEG standards related to the xHE-AAC codec,” the company said in the announcement.

Version 3.8 also offers loudness control for audio on demand. Other improvements include support for smallest possible HLS segment lengths, down to one second; WebRTC listen-in now allows multiple client listeners; the version provides improved AES67 compatibility with other products; and applets can now be triggered with an action delay.
