Sports Radio News from the Northwest

Levy gets extended in Seattle, Rip City gets Bunker and Danforth

There’s some sports radio programming news out of the Pacific Northwest.

In Seattle, iHeartMedia KJR(AM) veteran Mitch Levy has renewed his “Mitch in the Morning” show contract. Levy has two decades of service with the station. In what will be a climatological shock to his system, Chuck Powell is moving from Phoenix to join KJR as the 10 a.m.–noon host. One final KJR note, former Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers coach Mike Holmgren has extended his contract as a football analyst for the station.

Down the road in Portland, Ore., iHeartMedia’s KPOJ(AM) has announced a new morning show, “Rip City Mornings With Bunker and Danforth,” a daily morning show, 6–9 a.m. Andy Bunker was recently at Bonneville’s KIRO(AM) in Seattle, an ESPN Radio affiliate, while Taylor Danforth is a native Portlander and recently a host at rival Portland sports radio station Entercom’s KFXX(AM), also an ESPN Radio affiliate.
