Spotify Debuts iPad App

App is optimized for iPad’s Retina display

On-demand music service Spotify released their iPad app this week, and while New York Times writer Ben Sisaro pointed out that apps have already been created by basically all of Spotify’s competitors — Rhapsody, Slacker, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Rdio, Mog, TuneIn and Sirius XM Radio — “few apps have been as anticipated as Spotify’s iPad version.”

The app is only available to subscribers who pay $10 a month. It boasts Retina-level graphics, AirPlay integration, a full-screen view, enhanced playback and crossfade and a search engine for playlists and users.

For those unfamiliar with Spotify, which has been in the United States for just under a year, its music catalog comprises 17 million songs and it claims to have 10 million active users and more than 3 million paying subscribers.

The 12 other countries in the world using Spotify are UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain.
