Media analysis firm BIA/Kelsey has updated its data on station transactions for the first half 2014. The numbers in the transaction activity report show much more activity than the previous year and were derived from their Media Access Pro software database.
In 2014, 524 radio stations have been sold through June, as opposed to 2013’s 335 for that same period.
This year’s transactions were valued at $629 million in aggregate; $177 million of that came from June 2014 alone. In contrast, June 2013’s transactions totaled $30 million, and the first half of 2013 added up to $220 million.
