Author of international bestsellers “Freakonomics” and its follow-up “SuperFreakonomics” Stephen J. Dubner will deliver the keynote address during the NAB Showopening session on April 16.
Dubner will discuss the “media ecosystem” of today’s rapidly changing technological era, and the incentives system that drives the economics of communication.
First published in 2005, “Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything” was an instant hit that turned into a cultural phenomenon, spinning off into a radio show, a blog on the New York Times website, a feature documentary and even a pair of pants (sort of).
The book was based on research by the book’s co-author, University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt, whom Dubner profiled in the New York Times Magazine in 2003.
In addition to his work at the Times, Dubner has written for The New Yorker and Time, and has been anthologized in both “The Best American Sports Writing” and “The Best American Crime Writing.”
