It was just a matter of time before “naming rights” came to college radio.
For a generous donation, Envision Radio Networks has obtained the naming rights for Syracuse University’s WJPZ(FM)’s studios. To be called Envision Radio Networks Broadcast Center, the student-run facilities were recently refurbished with new equipment.
The act of generosity didn’t come out of the blue, however. Envision CEO and President Danno Wolkoff is a Syracuse alum and got his start in radio at the station in 1985. “There is no better classroom in the world than Z-89, and I’m thrilled the legacy will continue,” he said.
An official opening will take place on March 1, in conjunction with the station’s annual banquet and Hall of Fame induction.
