Thanksgiving Radio

A drumstick is not a remote

As the official beginning of the Christmas season, Thanksgiving doesn’t quite have the radio “oomph,” that Christmas does, but here are some worthy tidbits of news to be passed along.

Premiere Networks syndicated host Steve Harvey is giving away 7,000 turkeys this week through his show, “The Steve Harvey Morning Show.

Radio vagabond Art Bell, now at KABC(AM) in Los Angeles, will be rewarding his listeners on Thanksgiving with a 12-hour best-of marathon, “An Art Bell Out-of-This-World Thanksgiving Special,” starting Nov. 26 at 9 p.m.

And Sirius/XM has drawn our attention to some Thanksgiving offerings. For the foodies, “Food Talk” host Geoffrey Zakarian and chefs, celebs, and food heavies share best recipes, entertaining tip on Wednesday and on Thursday the Raw Dog Comedy channel promises Thanksgiving humor. The satcaster also points to its bountiful sports offerings to entertain on a day (well, now a four-day weekend) known for sports TV watching.
