Committee chairmanships will soon change in the House and Senate, following this week’s sweeping election outcome.
Democrats John Dingell of Michigan and Ed Markey of Massachusetts will likely take over the House Commerce Committee and Telecom and Internet Subcommittee, respectively. The names are familiar to broadcasters; both chaired those committees before the GOP congressional takeover.
The chairmanship of the Commerce Committee is expected to go to Daniel Inouye of Hawaii. He co-chairs the committee now with Republican Ted Stevens of Alaska.
