In June 2007, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Germany, contracted Lawo to supply two networked mc²66 consoles.
An additional benefit of the installation of the Lawo technology at the state theater is that the Bavarian public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) uses the same Lawo consoles in its OB trucks, facilitating the sharing of console data in joint operations.
“The previous console was analog and technically out-dated,” said Dirk Buttgereit, head of the sound department at the state theatre.
Following testing and acceptance by the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Lawo delivered the two mc²66 consoles in September 2007.
“One Lawo console is installed in a control room, equipped with a retractable window, on the second balcony level. During rehearsals, the sound engineer uses the mobile mc²66 console in the auditorium to devise presets for the performances,” Buttgereit said.
Both consoles are fully networked, making it possible to transfer all settings to the console in the control room. Parallel operation is also possible, allowing simultaneous mixing and recording.
