Townsquare Acquires Stations

Six stations added in western Massachusetts

Townsquare Media is in acquisition mode — at least around Pittsfield, Mass.

The group owner is purchasing three radio stations and an FM translator from Gamma Broadcasting along with the same complement for Berkshire Broadcasting.

The Gamma properties are: WBEC(AM/FM), WUPE(AM) and a 94.1 MHz FM translator. The Berkshire properties are broadcasting are WUPE(FM), WNAW(AM), WSBS(AM) and a FM translator broadcasting at 103.3 MHz.

A release says that with the new properties Townsquare will own 318 radio stations in 67 markets, making it the third largest owner of radio stations in the United States.
