UK: Bloomberg Radio Joins Radioplayer

The partnership will allow the broadcaster to extend its audience reach in the UK

In an effort to reach six million potential listeners in the United Kingdom, Bloomberg Radio has announced it is joining the web and mobile app Radioplayer.

Radioplayer hosts more than 400 BBC and commercial radio stations and can be accessed on a variety of connected devices like iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire and Windows. Bloomberg Radio delivers 24/7 news and analysis aimed toward business leaders, financial professionals and C-suite executives.

“We are delighted to be increasing the U.K. distribution of Bloomberg Radio by partnering with Radioplayer,” said Justin Dewhirst, general manager, Bloomberg Media, EMEA.

Likewise, Radioplayer has said it is pleased to have a media company as prestigious as Bloomberg join its list of programming. “Working together enables us to get radio into emerging devices, and make Bloomberg Radio’s brilliant content discoverable through our innovative search and recommendation engines,” said Michael Hill, managing director at Radioplayer.

Bloomberg Radio programming in Europe was launched earlier this year with a flagship breakfast show, “First Word Europe.” Newly appointed anchor Markus Karlsson will start in Bloomberg Radio Europe line-up this month, reporting alongside Caroline Hepker.

Bloomberg Radio has also made a push into Asia, by introducing “First Word Asia.”
