Umansky Serves on FCC Advisory Committee

He’s a former NAB VP and broadcast lawyer

Barry Umansky is among those serving new two-year terms on the FCC’s Consumer Advisory Committee, according to the StarPress.com.

Umansky is familiar to many in the radio industry. He worked at the commission after graduating from law school, and later became vice president and deputy general counsel of NAB; he worked as a communications attorney at Irwin, Campbell & Tannenwald LLC.

In 2003 he joined Ball State University, where he’s a telecommunications professor and member of the university’s Digital Policy Institute.

Ball State is one of two academic institutions represented on the FCC committee at present.
